30 Minute Paleo Meals eBook Review and Bonus Cuban Burger with Plantain Fries Recipe

Over four years ago we made the switch from pre-packaged convenience foods to a real food paleo lifestyle. We were already a family of five at the time and had to learn how to successfully prep and make real wholesome meals that appealed to all the little mouths we were feeding. It definitely took some time and I completely understand everyone's struggles when they are starting out. I found the meals that took around 30 minutes most manageable (in order to fit in homework, bath time and story time during the week) so I'm super excited to let you know about Real Simple Good's 30 Minute Paleo Meals Cookbook and even more excited to share their Cuban Burger with Plantain Fries recipe!

Cuban Burger with Plantain Fries Recipe

You will need:

  • 4 medium green plantains, sliced into thin strips like fries*
  • 2 tbsp avocado oil
  • 2 dill pickles, sliced
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 batch cuban seasoning
  • 1⁄2 lb sugar free ham, shaved (225gms)
  • Yellow mustard
  • 4 cups spinach
  • Salt
Cuban Seasoning:

  • 11⁄2 tsp garlic powder (buy from iherb or amazon)
  • 1 tsp onion powder (buy from iherb or amazon)
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1⁄2 tsp salt (buy on iherb or amazon)
  • 1 tsp fresh lime juice

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees fahrenheit (220C)
  • Peel and slice plantains into very thin strips. Place on a baking sheet,
drizzle with oil and season with salt. Toss to coat and arrange fries in a single layer. Place in oven to bake for 18-20 minutes, removing halfway to turn. Remove fries from oven just as they begin to get crispy.
  • While fries are cooking, slice pickles and place ground pork in a bowl and add in cuban burger seasoning. Mix well with your hands to incorporate seasoning mix. Form pork into 4 burger patties, set aside.
  • After turning the fries, heat a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, place burger patties in skillet to cook, about 5 minutes per side. Add ham to pan to warm with burgers after you flip them.
  • Remove fries from oven. Place burgers on a bed
